DVD to iPod GUI is an open-source Graphical User Interface designed to help users of DVD to iPod Terminal to convert their DVD videos - in a more user-friendly way - into a format that your iPod can play, such as MP4 and AVI.
The program’s current interface is surely a big step forward when compared to the command-based version, but it still offers ample room for improvement. The photograph as a background image, together with the somehow anarchic layout of various options and boxes, makes it a bit difficult to read and use.
There are two versions – a default, slightly cleaner GUI with just a few options, and another one showing all the functionality available. These advanced functions can be easily toggled on and off, and they are not really necessary for straightforward full-DVD to MP4 video conversion tasks. However, they are still quite useful, and they include the possibility of keeping the temporary AVI file generated during the DVD-to-MP4 conversion process. Besides, you can select either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 as the preferred output format, and tell the program to convert only a specific chapter within the selected title.
Even though a 0.7.2 version is available from the program’s pages at Sourceforge, this appears to be in Pre-Alpha status, and clearly needs further development. However, when fully functional, it will offer a nicer and cleaner interface with a built-in video player for previewing your source files.
